The Toshiba Satellite X205 is a high-end multimedia notebook from Toshiba featuring the latest and greatest in mobile technology. It is based on the Intel Santa Rosa platform and has the Nvidia GeForce 8700M-GT DirectX 10 video card.

Toshiba Satellite X205 is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processor and PM965 chipset, both providing 800MHz front side bus, which is an increase from 667MHz in older Satellite laptops. The GeForce 8700M GT dedicated graphics card in the X205 notebook is compatible with DirectX 10 games and has 256MB DDR3 video memory. This video card manages 17″ widescreen display with 1440-by-900 pixel resolution. Toshiba’s X205 supports up to 4GB of system memory and can be configured with up to two SATA hard drives. The offered configurations include 2×120GB and 2×160GB storage capacities. The laptop has a HD DVD player with CD and DVD writing capabilities. The HD DVD drive and notebook’s HDMI output with 1080i resolution provide high definition playback on external HD monitors and HDTVs.

CompAmerica Announced Orca Extreme 9191 Mobile Laptop

CompAmerica today announced the Orca Extreme 9191 notebook PC, which is claimed to be “the most powerful laptop on earth.” The new 17-inch widescreen mobile workstation is powered by desktop-use Intel Core 2 Duo/Extreme processor and features dual graphics, as well as up to three hard drive units.

Orca Extreme 9191 can be configured with Intel Core 2 Duo processor up to E6700 at 2.66Ghz clock speed or with Core 2 Extreme processor X6800 at 2.93Ghz. The ASUS G1 is one of two notebooks recently introduced targeted for the gaming community. Based on the latest Intel Core 2 Duo Mobile Technology the ASUS G1 provides graphic solutions with the nVidia 7700 512MB graphics card. The G1 features a Direct Messenger instant display, side/front speakers, hotkey highlights as well as sidelights. The LCD cover of the G1 comes equipped with special in-mold decoration design that gives the notebook an instant game machine identity that stands out from the generic notebook design The keyboard of the G1 makes mobile gaming ergonomically comfortable while the W, A, S and D keys are especially marked with color squares to match the rest of the notebook color scheme. The G1, part of the company's new gaming line, is a solidly built machine tuned for gaming, with parts slightly below top-of-the-line, and attractively priced at well under $2,000. This isn't a machine for the hardcore, but most gamers will find that price and portability can be as appealing as frame rates.

The Asus G1 is marketed as the 15” mobile answer for the hardcore gamer enthusiast. The G1 is a sharp looking package that meets the requirements of most of today’s best games and entertainment applications. Asus also included a fine gaming mouse from Logitech (too bad it’s not wireless) and recovery disks. Most brands charge extra for those. The G1 itself is a pleasant sight. The case is shiny and beautiful, showing off a carbon fiber construction look. In reality it’s all plastic, but it feels solid. The lower portion of the palm rest area is made of anodized brushed aluminum, and feels very smooth. I found no crooked corners or blemishes. I expect this laptop to last a long time.

The G1 is a solid machine, it is not lightweight or thin, it is aluminum re-enforced where you lean your wrists, it has no apparent flex in the base, no creaky or squeaky area's. The screen has three hinge supports. Comparing it to an automobile, this machine feels and looks a little like I would imagine a military All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) might be.
