Motion Computing Announces LE1700 Tablet PC

Motion's LE1700 brings Core 2 Duo to the "slate" Tablet PC form-factor. Motion Computing has revealed its latest "slate" Tablet PC in the form of the LE1700. The LE1700 brings a wealth of features to the Tablet PC platform and runs Microsoft's newly introduced Windows Vista operating system.

The LE1700 makes use of Intel Core 2 Duo processors in select configurations, 30GB hard disk drive (HDD), supports up to 4GB of DDR2 memory and features a 12.1" SXGA+ LCD screen. In a nutshell, it runs Vista Business Edition on a 1.5GHz Core 2 Duo processor with 1 gig or RAM (4 gigs max), 40 to 80 gig 1.8" hard drive (OK, the drive won't be fast-- why not use a 2.5" drive for better performance?) and an XGA+ display. The price starts at $2,199 and there's a more affordable Windows XP version for those of you whose companies just say no to Vista. All of Motion's usual goodies such as a dock, and thin extended battery are available for the LE1700. It also features enhanced security in the form of ComputeTraceComplete device tracking and Motion DataGuard HDD protection. Other features include CDMA/EVDO support along with WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR.

Canovo - New Dual Screen Notebook Concept

The Italian design firm V12 has recently introduced its Canovo dual-screen notebook/tablet concept, which features two display units. Canova is a dual display touch screen notebook concept created by V12 Design, an industrial design and engineering studio. Canova is a notebook which has dual LCD touch screen display that can do almost everything from a sketch pad, music score, graph paper, watching a movie and so on. It has the same usage as other notebooks. The thing that makes it special is it going to have everything in touch screen, for example touch screen keyboard and it doesn't require any mouse. The electronic pen and dedicated hardware of the notebook brings the machine to life and make viewers glued to it making everything accessible on two massive touch-sensitive screens.

One of these touch-screens can be used as an additional display, but also as a fully functional and customizable keyboard. Currently, there are no working sample and specifications of this concept computer. �V12 design has developed the concept and the design of the Canova Notebook nearly two years ago. The project captured the attention of a European computer manufacturer and together with its Taiwanese sister company, they started the development of the electronics. The complexity of the fully custom made electronic components has slowed down the development of the product as a whole, � managing director of V12 Design Valerio Cometti said.
